The Columbines promote recreational and competitive running for women of all ages. The club reflects the general population of women runners — from beginners to ultra marathoners, from turtles to rabbits.

The Columbines group has two fundamental aims — to provide women runners with an opportunity to build a social network of other women runners and to support the running community.

We offer various opportunities for you to connect with running partners:

    1. Fun Runs: You will be able to meet other runners at our monthly fun runs, which will be hosted by a fellow Columbine. The distance and speed is up to you but usually we run for 30-45 minutes. After the run, we visit at the hostess’s home and share healthy snacks that we each bring (muffins and fruit, etc). For details of scheduled runs, please contact our Fun Run Coordinator, Melissa Hoskins melissahoskins2001@yahoo.com
    2. Trail Runs: You can participate in monthly long runs also hosted by a fellow member. These runs are usually six or more miles, but that is just a general guideline. These runs are usually held at a park or trail and everyone meets just for the run.
    3. Columbines Points Series: The Columbines encourage participation. We encourage participation in the monthly fun runs and local races supported by the Columbines to help you achieve you own goals. As an added incentive, every time you participate you earn points and become eligible for prizes received at the year-end banquet!
    4. Annual Member Meeting: In January at the first Fun Run of the year, the club provides food and drinks for everyone who attends. We also discuss the coming year's calendar and elect club officers.
    5. Annual Banquet: The Columbines share a night-out with their significant others to recognize the contributions and achievements of fellow group members. This event usually takes place in November.
    6. Newsletter: Each month you will receive the Columbine newsletter packed with stories from other members, lists of potential running partners, notifications of upcoming races, seminars, and events of interest.
    7. Membership Roster: Our membership roster is made available to club members once a year. The list is not disclosed to any other group. If you object to your personal information being distributed to other Columbines, please contact me and I will ensure your privacy.
    8. Discounts: Show your Columbine membership card to receive a discount at all locations of the Boulder Running Company and the Runner’s Roost, . For information on a discounted ID for your running shoes, featuring the Columbines logo, see Columbines ID
    9. Track coached by Glenn McCarthy every Tuesday mid-April to mid-July. Track meets at Heritage High School in Littleton.
    10. We also provide a number of ways to support the running community: There are many local races through the year where the Columbines are asked to help out. For example, in the past the Columbines sponsored a water table at the Colorado marathon. If you have never run a marathon, it is truly inspiring to watch the runners come through mile 20 on their way to finish at 26.2 miles
