Columbine Board Definitions

Columbine Board Positions

The Colorado Columbines is such a great running club thanks to its members and the women who volunteer their time to be on the Board. Join the board to help set the direction of your club, give back to your running community, and to have some fun!

Elections will be held at the Member’s General Meeting each January. The board meets approximately 10 times during the year, and works as a team to accomplish the goals and tasks.

Watch for the call-for-nominations towards the end of each year, or contact one of our current board members for more info.

President The Board President is responsible for the overall management of the Club. Her responsibilities include planning and development, coordination of the committee activities, oversee and set the agenda for the Board meetings and act as community liaison.

Vice PresidentThe VP assists the President with her responsibilities. Additionally, the Vice President is responsible for special projects such as ordering club gear, planning the annual banquet, etc.  Oversees the Special Events Coordinator and the Fun Run/Points Series Coordinator.

Treasurer – The Treasurer works with the President to set the annual budget, maintains the banking account, pays bills, develops the financial statement for Board review and manages the savings/investment accounts.

Secretary – The Secretary takes the minutes at all of the Board meetings and distributes them to the Board members prior to the next Board meeting.

Membership Coordinator – The Membership Coordinator tracks all of the membership forms and coordinates payments with the Treasurer. She sends welcome information and membership cards to all new members when they join.

Community Coordinators - The Community Coordinators are responsible for keeping in touch with and reaching out to our relevant communities(such as Jeffco Open Space) and organizations (such as the Masters, Denver Road Runners, etc.) Establishes relationships and/or partnerships with race directors. Also sells/coordinates ads for the newsletter and/or email blasts. Updates club with running community news.

Volunteer CoordinatorThe Volunteer Coordinator oversees all of the volunteer activities and coordinates community activities such as races for which the Columbines provide volunteer assistance.

Website CoordinatorThe Website Coordinator maintains and updates the Columbines web site.

Newsletter Editor – The Newsletter Editor is responsible for gathering articles and design, layout, printing, and mailing of the quarterly newsletter.  Coordinates with the Communications Coordinators regarding newsletter ads.

E-Blast Coordinator - The E-Blast coordinator sends out weekly email blasts to the membership containing timely information on fun runs, club events, running tips and relevant community news.

Special Events Coordinator The Special Events coordinator oversees special events to include clinics, new member fun runs, activities to support

healthy running, happy hours, and participating in local events (other than volunteering) of interest to the membership. Reports to the Vice President.

Fun Run/Points CoordinatorThe Fun Run Coordinator schedules the monthly fun runs. She gathers information on the upcoming fun runs from the hostesses and provides this to the newsletter editor, the website coordinator, and the E-Blast coordinator. Collects and tracks all of the points earned by members for the year and awards the Top 10 earners at the annual banquet.

Reports to the Vice President

Members at LargeThere are two Members at Large. These volunteers attend Board meetings and do various volunteer activities to assist the Board members and the Club, such as welcoming new members, sending birthday cards, and helping with other projects

Track CoordinatorsThe Track Coordinators attend all track workouts throughout the track season. They post the workouts which have been designed by the track coach for each session and answers any questions. They lead the workouts when the Coach is not present.
