Fun Runs – A fun run is scheduled at least once a month. Members of the club take turns hosting, choosing locations, and planning routes. Fun Runs are a good place to meet fellow runners because these social runs are generally from 30-45 minutes in length followed by snacks and a chance to socialize.
Weekly Track Practice runs from March to September, arranged by Columbines Track Coordinators and led by a professional coach!
Sunday Morning Runs – On Sunday mornings (Currently meeting @ 7:55 a.m.) Columbines meet at the Carson Nature Center on Mineral and Santa Fe in Littleton to run or walk 3 to 6 miles on the Mary Carter Greenway, a trail that is both concrete and packed gravel. After about one hour on the trail, the group meets up at Panera Bread at the nearby Aspen Grove Shopping Center for coffee, pastries and good conversation. All ages and abilities are welcome (bring a friend)!
Distance Divas – Winter and summer training sessions for members with the goal of spring and fall half and full marathons.
Volunteer Opportunities – Support the running community by volunteering at local races and running events.
La Fete des Feet – Our annual celebration of accomplishments! Usually held in November, this is our chance to look back at the year’s achievements, look forward to new goals, and see what we look like in “real” clothes. Plan to come, have fun, celebrate, and get excited!
Member Recogntion Program– We will recognize club members for ongoing participation and contribution of time and energy towards making these events successful at our annual La Fete celebration in November. Areas of recognition of participation will include:
- Fun Runs
- Columbine Classic
- Sunday morning group run program
- Volunteerism in the running community
- Distance Divas
Girls on the Run – The Columbines sponsor and help coach a Denver elementary school-based Girls on the Run program. Contact Carol Clark if interested in learning more about Girls on the Run or how you can be involved with supporting this amazing team of young ladies as they learn about running and life!
Special Activities – Columbines often have speakers, workshops, clinics, and events designed to help members reach their running goals and to get to know each other better.
